SKIDERFlex USB-C Connector (USB 2.0)
General Description
The SKIDERFlex USB-C Connector (USB 2.0) is a tiny USB Type C connector with support for USB 2.0. It utilizes the SKIDERFlex mounting system with various castellated holes for easy and rapid integration in every project or product. You will not have to fiddle with tiny SMD componentens to integrate this USB Type C connector into your design.
Features
- USB Type C connector
- USB 2.0 speed
- supports industrial temperature range (-40°C to +85°C)
- no external components needed for basic operation (except connections)
- tiny form factor (12.7mm x 13.72mm x 4.73mm)
- compatible with breadboards (only for testing / could affect signal quality)
Operating Instructions
The SKIDERFlex USB-C Connector (USB 2.0) only supports USB 2.0. The USB Connector is protected against EMI with various filters. For normal operation, you can connect the Source pin or the Sink pin to select the respective power operation mode. These modes are intended for a voltage of +5V with a power consumption/draw of 3A maximum. Alternatively the USB-C Power Settings can be adjusted to your own needs by connecting the CC1 and CC2 Pins accordingly. For more details see section CC Pin Configuration / Power Settings.

Pinout
Pin | Name | Description |
---|---|---|
1, 2, 11, 12 | Reserved | Pins are NC but intended for future upgrades. Should be left floating. |
3 | D- | USB D- |
4 | D+ | USB D+ |
5 | Source | Can be used to configure the port as a power source. |
6 | CC1 | Directly connected to CC1 of USB Type C connector. Can be left floating. |
7 | CC2 | Directly connected to CC2 of USB Type C connector. Can be left floating. |
8 | Sink | Can be used to configure the port as a power sink. |
9 | +5V | +5V power input/output pin. |
10 | GND | GND Pin |
Power Settings and CC Pin Configuration
The easiest way to configure the wanted operating mode of the connector is to use the Source and Sink pins. By connecting the Source pin to +3.3V and keeping the Sink pin floating, the connector will serve as a downstream port and therefore supply +5V at a maximum of 3A. If you connect the Sink pin to GND and leave the Source pin floating, the connector will serve as a upstream port and therefore demand +5V.
Alternatively the USB-C Power Settings can be adjusted to your own needs by connecting the CC1 and CC2 Pins accordingly. These pins are directly connected to the CC pins of the USB Type C connector and should only be used if the Source and Sink pins are left floating. For more information on how these pins work please have a look at this document from STMicroelectronics.
